My journey into the world of safaris started back in 2007, when I first travelled to Kenya as a guest on a trip with AV Tours. What began as a holiday quickly became something much bigger — I fell in love with the landscapes, the wildlife, and the rhythm of East Africa. Years later, after gaining experience in the travel industry and eventually taking over AV Tours, I knew one thing for sure: Kenya was where my heart belonged.

It was after becoming the owner of the company that I met Rose – and together we took things to the next level by starting Nala Trails. We combine our strengths — my Dutch background and years of travel expertise, and her Kenyan roots and local know-how — to offer meaningful, tailor-made safaris that connect people with the soul of East Africa.

Favourite animal: honey badger – fearless, clever, and full of character.

Favourite moment on safari: hearing a lion roar close to camp at night in the Masai Mara, then waking up to find its tracks right outside our tent – unforgettable.

I grew up in Nairobi, not far from the wild spaces that now shape my everyday work. While I originally studied chemistry, my true passion was always people, culture, and nature. After meeting Mathijs — who already owned a safari company at the time — I joined him in building something new together: Nala Trails.

Today, I handle much of the planning and operations side. I love showing guests the Kenya I know and love — not just the famous sights, but the stories behind them, the people, and the hidden gems.

Favourite animal: cheetah – fast, focused, and family-oriented.

Favourite moment on safari: watching a lioness nudge her cubs awake as the morning mist lifted in the Masai Mara.

Jambo! I’ve grown up with safari in my blood – my father was a guide, and I spent much of my childhood bouncing around in Land Cruisers across Kenya. That passion became a profession, and today I’m proud to be part of the Nala Trails team.

Based in Nairobi, I make sure all the local logistics run smoothly and that you feel welcome from the moment you land. Whether it’s coordinating guides, checking on lodges, or offering tips for your adventure – I’m here for you.

Favourite animal: elephant – loyal, intelligent and deeply emotional.

Favourite moment on safari: seeing Mount Kilimanjaro appear from behind the clouds just as a group of giraffes walked past – picture perfect.
